Army SOS – the infamous "Sh!t on a Shingle" that fueled troops since WWI! This creamy chipped beef or ground beef classic gets a fiery revival with Willie Pete Chicken Seasoning, a veteran-owned chili-garlic blast that transforms DFAC nostalgia into a bold meal.
Scaled for 4-6, this 20-minute dish brings back those "worst of times, best of times" vibes – remember that greasy mess hall plate?
Ingredients

Beef tallow
- 1 lb. ground beef

Willie Pete Chicken Seasoning
-
Standard Issue Salt & Pepper

2 tbsp butter
-
¼ cup all purpose flour

2 ¼ cup whole milk
Directions
Add some beef tallow to the skillet, and allow it to melt down and coat the skillet.
- Add the beef to the preheated skillet, and add the Willie Pete Chicken Seasoning and Standard Issue Salt & Pepper.
- Brown the beef until the pink is out of it.
- Push the beef to one side of the skillet, and allow the fat/juices to gather on the other side of the skillet.
- Add the butter, allow it to melt down into the juices, then mix with the meat.
- Slowly add in the flour a little at a time, mix, then repeat until all the flour is added. You may need to lower the heat some to keep the flour from burning.
- Slowly add in the milk a little at a time, mix, then repeat until all the milk has been added.
- Keep the heat on until it reaches your preferred consistency. Remember, the longer it cooks, the thicker it will get.
- Grab some toast (or biscuits), top with the gravy mixture, and ENJOY!
