Ingredients
- 1 package (about 1 lb) of your favorite sausage, sliced
-
1 tablespoon Ma Deuce Steak Seasoning
-
½ cup Hellfire Honey Habanero Barbecue Sauce (or your favorite Grill Your Ass Off BBQ sauce)
-
1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 ½ cups chicken broth
- 1 cup rice
- ½ medium onion, diced
- ½ cup bell pepper, diced
-
1 tbsp cooking oil
-
¼ cup soy sauce
-
1 tbsp honey
Directions
- Brown the Sausage: Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the diced bell pepper and onion. Cook until softened and slightly translucent, about 3-5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Toast the Rice: Add the uncooked rice to the pan with the vegetables and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the rice is lightly toasted.
Add Liquids & Seasoning: Pour in the chicken broth, soy sauce, honey, Hellfire Honey Habanero BBQ sauce, Ma Deuce steak seasoning, and minced garlic. Mix everything well.
- Return the Sausage: Return the browned sausage to the pan, nestling it into the rice mixture.
- Simmer and Cook: Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan tightly and cook for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the liquid is absorbed.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the pan from the heat and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing the rice with a fork.
- Serve: Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs (optional) or a drizzle of extra BBQ sauce.
